Historical Background

FSO Technologies and its founders have consistently been an innovative force in the development and implementation of much-needed practice tools, providing unique and valuable resources to financial professionals.

Recognizing the needs of the financial community, and meeting these needs successfully, has been an ongoing legacy for the company’s founders. For example, they recognized a need for:

• A general tax magazine for non-specialists — and so they founded Taxation for Accountants (since renamed Practical Tax Strategies).
• A practical accounting magazine for practitioners — and so they founded The Practical Accountant (the largest-paid-circulation magazine in the history of the profession).
• A computer-technology magazine for practitioners — and so they founded Computers for Accountants (since renamed Accounting Technology).
• A bulk client newsletter (extremely difficult for smaller firms to do on their own) — and so they founded Clients Monthly Alert (which reached the unprecedented circulation of 750,000 copies).
• A content-rich Website — and so they founded Financial Strategies Online (the first such Website-builder on the market).

The accounting publications previously on the market were aimed at the large public accounting firms, private accountants and academicians.

In addition to its current practice-enhancement tools, such as its MyPrepForce accounting services, its Interactive Document Manager and Online Interactive Tax Organizer, FSO Technologies’ other professional products have included CompleteSite Interactive, My Accounting Portal, Financial Strategies Online, and a full range of brandable portals. Each of the company’s products combines the latest Internet technologies with a wealth of practical and interactive practice tools.

Founder

Bio: ROBERT A. BEHREN, CPA, Attorney, B.B.A, M.B.A, J.D. (first in class, N.Y.U), LL.M (N.Y.U.), recipient of numerous scholarships, fellowships and awards, is both a CPA and an attorney (listed in Martindale-Hubbell, the official directory of attorneys, as having earned the highest ratings it confers: "A" — Very High to Preeminent).

He was a Professor of Taxation and Accounting at a major University for over 15 years.

He has authored or edited over 2,000 published articles on taxes, accounting and financial management, some of which have been cited, as authority for their decisions, by the highest courts in the country (including the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Tax Court).

He has founded and published leading financial magazines (including The Practical Accountant and Accounting Technology) and newsletters (including Clients Monthly Alert) for over 20 years (and has received a Presidential Commendation for Publishing from Ronald Reagan).

He is a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot (Major, Ret.).
